Though a ratings hit, AMC’s The Walking Dead has gone through 3 showrunners in 3 seasons

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Scott Gimple has replaced the departing Glen Mazzara as executive producer on Season 4 of AMC’s The Walking Dead.

Gimple, who wrote 5 episodes of the show, as well as FlashForward and Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance, and was Mazzara’s number 2 following the departure of the original showrunner and creator Frank Darabont in The Walking Dead Season 2.

Mazzara will remain  as showrunner through the second half of Season 3, overseeing post-production on the series, as filming has already completed. Gimple will take over when Season 4 begins production later in 2013.

The Walking Dead Season 3 will return to Fox in February. The Walking Season 2 is available on DVD priced £24.99 and Blu-ray priced £27.99 from Amazon.co.uk.
