12 Monkeys gets series, Bryan Fuller’s High Moon dropped

SyFy 12 Monkeys TV pilot is given a first season, Bryan Fuller’s sci-fi High Moon won’t get a series

12-MonkeysThe 12 Monkeys TV series, based on Terry Gilliam’s classic film, has been granted a full series by SyFy, while Bryan Fuller’s High Moon won’t be moving forward.

Deadline reports that SyFy have given the greenlight for a 12-episode series to showrunners Terry Matalas & Travis Fickett (Nikita), while High Moon will not be getting a series order.

X-Men‘s Aaron Stanford takes the lead as “a time traveler from the post-apocalyptic future who appears in present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will eventually decimate the human race.”

12 Monkeys will also star Fringe‘s Kirk Acevedo, Amanda Schull and Noah Bean. It is expected to air in January 2015.

Bryan Fuller’s High Moon pilot starred Dana Davis, Jonathan Tucker and Peter Macon, and was based on The Lotus Caves by John Christopher. According to Zap2It, it was “an imaginative, out-of-this-world adventure series exploring what happens when Earth establishes colonies to mine the Moon’s resources and discover a new form of life.”

Fuller would have produced with Being Human‘s Adam Kane, while the pilot was written by Pushing Daisies‘ Jim Danger Gray.
