Syfy’s 12 Monkeys has had a great reaction and has been rewarded with a second season.
THR reports that the freshman show, based on the 1995 Terry Gilliam movie, will continue for a second year, but with a new showrunner. Natalie Chiadez, who ran the first season, is moving onto Hunters, produced by Gale Ann Hurd and also on Syfy.
However, the change shouldn’t be too drastic as series creators Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett will be stepping up to take on showrunner duties.
Syfy president David Howe said ‘”We are absolutely committed to 12 Monkeys, and have been incredibly impressed by the outstanding critical and audience praise the series has earned. The talent both on- and offscreen has delivered a series that has us all on the edge of our seats, providing exactly the smart, exciting storytelling Syfy is known for.”
12 Monkeys airs on Friday nights on Syfy in the UK. Read our interview with Amanda Schull here and keep up with the latest sci-fi news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
