The Walking Dead Season 3‘s breakout star Norman Reedus, may have become the fan favourite due to Daryl Dixon’s brooding, squirrel-chomping masculinity, but the character isn’t exactly pin-up material. Nonetheless a sort of chaste relationship has clearly been brewing between the rough-hewn redneck and the weary Carol Peletier (Melissa Suzanne McBride), and Reedus thinks that will probably continue…

“Yeah, in certain ways,” he agrees. “I like the fact that they’re drawn together for reasons other than sexual tension. I like the fact that damaged people sort of gravitate towards damaged people – I find that interesting, more interesting than them having sex against a tree.

“That’s not really who Daryl is, I kinda want to play Daryl like he’s got  no game at all. He wouldn’t know what to do, I like that about him – I wouldn’t want him to be the take-the-shirt-off kinda guy, the glistening sweat on his shoulder. I want him to be kinda awkward. It’s more interesting to me. As far as a relationship based on friendship and relying on each other, it does get bigger – it gets bigger with all the characters.”

The Walking Dead Season 3 is airing now on FX. The Walking Season 2 is available on DVD priced £24.99 and Blu-ray priced £27.99 from Amazon.co.uk.
