Thunderbird 2
THUNDERBIRDS
Pilot: Virgil Tracy, Brains
First Appearance: 1965
Though there are five different Thunderbird ships, Thunderbird 2 is a clear fan favourite but to some it’s hard to see why. Ostensibly it’s just a large cargo transport designed to get rescue gear to the danger zone but its bulky green design and oddly rounded form proved enticing to fans the show. Despite it being a bit of a behemoth, Thunderbird 2 doesn’t give up too much in terms of pace with a maximum speed of 5,000mph and because of its size it’s able to sustain a lot of damage before being taken down. As well as being used to transport Thunderbird 4, this ship can also house ‘The Mole’, a clever little drilling machine, and ‘The Firefly’, the Thunderbirds fire-fighting tool. It also bears an uncanny resemblance to a certain futuristic delivery ship.
