The Warthog
HALO: COMBAT EVOLVED
Pilot: Master Chief
First Appearance: 2001
One of the most-loved vehicles in videogames history also happens to be one of sci-fi’s coolest creations. The Warthog is a 26th Century ‘Jeep’ created by Scottish Engineer William Stalker. It’s a 4x4 killing machine that can carry three people: one driver, one gunner and one passenger. The M12 Warthog LRV (Light Reconnaissance Vehicle) is the most common type used by the UNSC, and it features a back mounted M41 anti-aircraft gun, but there are many different variants throughout the three games with increased levels of armour, improved handling and beefier firepower. Developer Bungie even considered making specialist snow and jungle hogs but they were never included in the games. Fingers crossed we’ll see them in the upcoming Halo Wars game.
