The USS Enterprise
STAR TREK
Pilot: Captain James Tiberius Kirk
First Appearance: 1966
Two ships known as the USS Enterprise are featured in the original television series, the animated series and the first six Star Trek movies and she’s a Constitution-class heavy cruiser launched in 2245. In the course of its career, the Enterprise became the most celebrated Federation Starfleet vessel of the 23rd Century. In its 40 years of service and discovery the USS Enterprise took part in numerous first contacts, military engagements and time-travels. The Enterprise achieved its most lasting fame from Kirk’s five-year mission, as depicted in the original Star Trek, and it gets a galactic pimping for its appearance in the first feature film before being destroyed in The Search For Spock. The ship was so popular that NASA even named an initial flight test space shuttle after it. Fifty-eight officers and crew were killed serving aboard the Enterprise between 2265 and 2269 but she enabled many more to live long and prosper.
