Blade Runner - The Directors Cut
Year: 1982
Director: Ridley Scott
Cast: Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young
Much like the inferior Brazil, panicky studio executives tampered with Ridley Scott’s masterful vision of the future. In The Directors Cut the plot is clearer, and the happy ending of the original has been replaced with a much more downbeat and provocative conclusion. In the final scene, the police chief’s right-hand man, Geff, leaves Deckard an origami unicorn, implying that Geff knows Deckard’s secret recurring dream, suggesting that Deckard is a Replicant. The implications of these changes virtually started the trend for re-released Directors Cuts.
