Supposedly afflicted with severe depression and boredom, Marvin the paranoid android certainly isn’t the life and soul of the party but he is a valuable asset to have aboard the Heart of Gold. Claiming to be 50,000 times more intelligent than a human, he rarely puts his intellect to good use, choosing instead to linger on the hopelessness of his predicament. Abandoned on the ancient planet of Magrathea, Marvin waited over 500,000 million years for his masters to return before proceeding to tell them what a miserable time he’d had. More Eeyore than Artoo, Marvin does at least earn big points for his brain power and ability to solve cosmos-sized equations… nerd alert.
