One of only four characters to appear in all six Star wars movies, Artoo-Detoo has saved the day time and time again. After being programmed to deliver Leia’s message to Obi-Wan, R2 travels to Tatooine where he is captured and subsequently sold by Jawas. Fortunately enough, his new master was bright-eyed farm boy Luke Skywalker – son to Anakin who he had served many years previously. Extremely loyal, R2 has also served nobility, first with Padmé Amidala and later in the Royal House of Alderaan. His bravery in finding Obi-Wan and delivering Leia’s message sparked the incredible chain of events that culminated in the destruction of the Death Star. A valuable servant to Luke, he accompanied him on the famous trench run, piloted him to the mysterious planet of Dagobah and shot him the Lightsaber that helped Luke escape from a life of torment inside the Sarlacc’s stomach.
