Ten of the best… Sci-fi sidekicks
Though it’s science fiction’s leading men that grab all of the glory, they’d be nothing without the friends behind the fame – the loyal companions that have their backs no matter what. While sidekicks play an important role in the genre, they often get overlooked, but you can always rely on SciFiNow to give credit where credit it due, so join us now as we deliver our ode to the ‘little guy’…

Starscream
TRANSFORMERS
Species: Decepticon
Sidekick to: Megatron
Never content with his sidekick status, the treacherous Starscream is constantly trying to overthrow Megatron and grab the number one spot for himself. He considers himself to be vastly superior to all other Decepticons and believes his way is the ‘only’ way. Gifted with the ability to transform into an F-15 Eagle jet (among other things in later generations), he leads the Seeker jets. They all share similar design and attributes that include topping speeds of Mach 2.8 and cannons that can fire both cluster bombs and Starscream’s signature weapon, the null ray, which can disrupt electric circuitry. A prominent figure in most of Megatron’s plans, Starscream is a true villain and would not give a second thought to destroying the Earth and everyone on it. He even seized the opportunity to dispose of his leader by jettisoning him into the emptiness of deep space, that is, however, before Megatron returned as the reinvigorated Galvatron and took his frustration out on Starscream’s face.
