One of the most enduring science-fiction characters ever, Mr Spock serves as the science officer and executive officer of the USS Enterprise under one Captain Kirk. Though TV execs were worried that his pale skin and pointy ears might make him appear ‘satanic’, his mix of logic-based nature and human emotion made him an instant fan favourite. Killed off in the second Star Trek movie, the third was dedicated to his resurrection and we got to see more of his trademark abilities, such as Katra transferral, the Mind Meld and our personal favourite, the Vulcan Nerve Pinch. Loyal to Kirk, Spock famously squared off against (and killed) him over a Vulcan female.
