Though Bender is selfishness personified, he does have one weakness: his fondness for his best friend, Fry. While he’d have you believe he’s as hard and cold as his shiny metal ass, Bender ‘Bending’ Rodriguez constantly proves to be a valuable companion to have around, using skills like pickpocketing, X-ray vision and, erm, bending to get Fry and the other members of Planet Express crew out of trouble. Viewed as a drunk, womanising scoundrel, Bender has hopes and dreams like the rest of us, such as becoming an accomplished chef, to steal things, and to steal yet more things. Recently being blessed with his own mini-movie, //Bender’s Big Score, he is now beginning to step out of sidekick territory and become the protagonist himself – so let’s all have a drink to celebrate, if there’s any left.
