Cue the ‘da na na nananana nah’ soundtrack as Spock faces-off against long-time friend and companion Captain Kirk as part of a strange mating ritual – not with each other you understand, Spock has his eye on a pointy-eared Vulcan philly but must first dispose of Kirk in order to get to her. In this shirt-slashing frenzy Spock actually ‘kills’ his friend and captain but is so racked with guilt at what he has done, he decides not to marry his betroved and instead returns to the USS Enterprise – where he finds Kirk alive and well. Kirk was, in fact, injected with a knockout drug which simulated the signs of death and that’s why Spock was able to defeat him. Well, that’s Kirk’s excuse and he’s sticking to it.
