Novel Adaptations
Some say that there are no new good ideas, a supposition done no harm by this top ten chart. SciFiNow lists its favourite book-to-screen sci-fi adaptations.

Blade Runner
Year: 1982
Director: Ridley Scott
Cast: Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Daryl Hannah
Adapted from: Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep? by Philip K Dick (novel, 1968)

The list of differences between Do Androids… and Blade Runner is quite long – Replicants were called ‘Andys’, the story was set in 1992 instead of 2019 and Deckard definitely wasn’t a Replicant, for example – yet it remains a fascinating movie that was even praised by Dick himself. Shortly before his death he was shown early footage, of which he said: “I recognised it immediately. It was my own interior world. They caught it perfectly.”
