Terminator 2: Judgement Day
Year: 1991
Director: James Cameron
Cast: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Edward Furlong
Cameron’s era defining sci-fi actioner is a touchstone for current directors – Jonathon Mostow’s parody laden third instalment shows just how difficult a thing it is to pull off – but it is the concluding sequence which remains the most powerful. The distinctly one-sided gunfight at Cyberdyne, the tanker and chopper chase down the freeway, the showdown in the steelworks, it is all woven together into an seamless and unrivalled blur of bullets and carnage which Cameron has failed to top (yet). Explosive stuff. Hell even Arnie’s T-800 has time to give it the thumbs up.
