Aliens
Year: 1986
Director: James Cameron
Cast: Sigourney Weaver, Michael Biehn, Lance Henrikesen
James Cameron’s audacious follow up to Ridley Scott’s genre-defining Alien took HR Giger’s terrifying creation and threw it into a gung ho action movie. Bursting with high-octane set pieces from when the marines first set foot on LV-426, Cameron’s movie took the multiple ending template and fashioned it into a thrilling, and much imitated, genre staple. With Ripley’s escape with Corporal Hicks, her assault on the alien nest, and then her power loader-aided face off with the alien queen back on the Sulaco, Aliens doesn’t know when to quit and throws in three endings for the price of one.
