Richard Lester’s second Superman film may not have been fit enough to lick the red boots of its two predecessors, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t feature the odd flash of brilliance. The addition of an evil Superman not only gave Reeve the chance to flex his acting muscles, it also provided the otherwise limp sequel with one of its most exciting sequences. After all, what’s more dangerous to Supes than a being with identical powers? Singer should have pulled the same trick in Returns instead of just making Brandon Routh lift large objects for 154 minutes…
