Six months after the Athosian people vanished, Teyla has several visions in which Kanaan begs her to find him. Following messages in the vision, Teyla, Sheppard, McKay and Ronon search the village of Croya but fail to find any clues.
Sheppard, McKay and Ronon are recalled to Atlantis – an illness is spreading through the galaxy, killing 30 per cent of the humans it infects. It is derived from a protein created several years earlier by the Hoffan people, who were trying to make humans toxic to the Wraith. Sheppard’s team investigates the planet Hoff, and McKay discovers that all information about the protein has been stolen from Hoff’s archives. Todd, the team’s occasional Wraith ally, signals that he wants to meet. Sheppard’s team travels to a rendezvous point to discuss the mysterious illness with him.
Meanwhile, Teyla follows another vision but falls into a Wraith trap. Imprisoned on a Wraith ship, she meets Michael, the human-Wraith hybrid who is responsible for both her visions and the virus. He also took the Athosians captive in order to turn them into drone-like human-Wraith hybrids and create an army. To Teyla’s horror, he introduces her to Kanaan, now transformed into his loyal minion.
With Todd’s help, Sheppard’s team pinpoints the location of a Wraith base. They raid the base but Teyla is not there. In orbit, their ship is attacked by a Wraith cruiser, which then flees – Sheppard is frustrated to learn that Teyla was aboard the cruiser. Lorne calls his attention to a locked cell; when they open it they find none other than Dr Carson Beckett inside.
