Dr Keller and Teyla travel to New Athos but find the village completely deserted. Teyla suspects an attack by the Wraith; they head back to the Stargate, but the gate is surrounded by Bola Kai, a race of cannibalistic savages. Teyla and Keller defeat a small band of Bola Kai and release a prisoner of theirs – a Genii spy working among the Athosians. The spy reveals that the Athosians are all dead, and that the Bola Kai are Wraith worshipers who revealed the location of the Athosians to the Wraith.
The next morning, Teyla reveals that she’d started a relationship with a long-time friend, an Athosian from New Athos. The Bola Kai find the camp and capture Keller and Teyla, and take them to the Bola Kai’s leader. Teyla accuses the leader of killing her people, but he explains that his people are also being hunted by the Wraith and that New Athos was already deserted. Meanwhile Sheppard, Ronon and McKay arrive in a Jumper to look for Teyla and Keller.
The Genii spy arrives, holds Keller and Teyla at gunpoint and demands the gate address to Atlantis. Keller realises the spy is the Wraith worshipper, overcomes her aversion to violence, and attacks him. The Bola Kai and Sheppard’s team arrive at the same time and, in the confusion, the spy disappears.
Back in Atlantis, Teyla swears to find whoever is responsible for the disappearance of her people and make them pay. Keller tells Teyla that she’s just gone over some test results and that there is something she must tell her. The episode ends with Teyla’s expression of concern.
