McKay wakes up to find himself tied to a desk. A message from himself tells him not to trust anybody and to find Teyla, who is the only person who can save Atlantis.
Fourteen hours earlier, several crewmembers are feeling unwell. Dr Keller sets up a quarantine but the illness – which seems to affect the memory – continues to spread. Keller learns that the disease is very similar to a common childhood illness in the Pegasus Galaxy. Teyla believes a plant on her home planet might help treat the disease but all gate travel has been suspended, so Ronon and Sheppard go in search of the plant on the mainland.
Lorne and his soldiers have been taking drugs to prevent memory loss, but the drugs make them paranoid and confused. He captures most of the crew and ties them up in the mess hall. Without Teyla, McKay is unable to focus on his job and in desperation, begins recording a message for himself. After McKay wakes up, he goes in search of Teyla but Lorne captures him and ties him up with the others. Carter devises an escape plan and they manage to get away.
On the mainland, Ronon finds the plant but when they try to return Lorne is suspicious. Ronon tells Lorne to look in his pocket, where he finds a picture of Sheppard with writing saying that Sheppard is the commanding officer. Lorne allows them back in and they go to process the cure. The cure is delivered through the city’s ventilation systems, and soon everyone starts to regain their memory. McKay stays by Katie’s bedside until she has recovered.
