Lt Col Sheppard is returning to Atlantis from a deep space mission when he is attacked and held captive by a race called the Travelers. They have a Lantean battleship and believe Colonel Sheppard can fix it. The Atlantis team find an SOS signal in Morse code and quickly conclude that Sheppard is the source of the signal. Unfortunately the signal also attracts the attention of the Wraith, who quickly descend upon the disabled battleship. The Wraith ship is destroyed, but not before it damages the Lantean battleship. A few Wraith manage to sneak on board undetected and try to take control of the ship. Two of them are killed but the third captures Larrin, the Travelers’ leader, and feeds on her. The Wraith keeps Larrin alive so that he can interrogate her, but Sheppard shows up and forces the Wraith at gunpoint to return Larrin’s life force. He then lets the Wraith go.

Sexual tension builds between the two and Larrin seduces Sheppard with a kiss – then stuns him with a blaster. The Traveler fleet arrives and takes control of the battleship, but Larrin still refuses to let Sheppard go in case his genes are needed to operate the ship.

Sheppard manages to convince Larrin that running from the Wraith is not the right course of action for her people. He reveals that the Wraith are caught up in their war with the Replicators and offers an alliance between the Travelers and Atlantis. The Atlantis crew finally reach the battleship and find Sheppard’s Jumper. They bring him back on board where he recounts his story to the team.
