Pete Ross accidentally eats some gum contaminated with kryptonite and acquires some strange powers. He shares his abilities with Clark but is disappointed when Clark insists on reversing his powers. Clark warns that kryptonite warps people’s minds and Pete threatens to reveal Clark’s secret if Clark goes against him.
Pete goes to see Chloe at the Daily Planet. He demonstrates his powers to her and says he wants to go public. Lex tries to convince Pete to join him, but when Pete rebuffs him, Lex demands that Pete help get the bracelet from Lionel’s vault or he’ll reveal that Chloe is a meteor freak. Pete uses his powers to break into Lionel’s vault and get the bracelet. He meets with Lex but tries to kill him; in the ensuing struggle, the gum is knocked out of Pete’s mouth and his powers disappear. Clark shows up in time to save him.
Later, Clark hides the bracelet in a lead box under the floorboards of the barn. At the manor, Lex gets information from an assistant that the stars in his family crest match a configuration on the day of the first meteor shower. There is something else, but right then Kara comes in and says she wants to stay at the manor rather than live with them at the farm. Lex smiles and closes the door.
