Lex and Lois are in a rainy junk yard, searching for Kara. Lois finds her locked inside a fence by a man called Finley. Finley arrives, grabs Lois and holds a gun to her head. She manages to break free and Lex and Finley exchange shots: Finley goes down with a bullet in his shoulder and Lex falls to the ground, shot in the head. Finley locks Lois up with Kara, who has amnesia and doesn’t remember Lois at all.

Some time later, Lex is at the hospital in a coma. Lois and Kara are still missing. Chloe and Clark discover that Lionel was working on Project Intercept, which lets an interrogator enter a suspect’s memories. So Clark decides to use it to go into Lex’s comatose mind to find out what happened to Lois and Kara.

Inside Lex’s mind, Clark finds Kara working in a diner and going by the name ‘Linda’. Clark is attacked by part of Lex’s mind and shown some horrible truths, including memories of Lana and Lex in bed together during their marriage. Clarke finally escapes and manages to work out where Finley shot Lex.

In the real world, Chloe helps heal Lex while Clark heads to the location he saw in Lex’s memories. He arrives just in time to stop Finley from killing Lois. Later, Clark visits Chloe and warns her about using her gift as it’s taking longer to recover each time. Kara worries that Clark is keeping secrets; Lex promises Kara that once his treatment restores her memories, they’ll have the truth once and for all.
