Lois is worried that people will think she is with Grant because of the Lex exposé, but Grant reassures her that Lex had asked for her specifically. She delivers the story to Chloe, who still thinks they broke it off. She then gets a phone call from a Luthercorp clone, a man called Adrian, who has planted a bomb on Chloe and wants Lois to write a story on him.

Chloe gets trapped in the elevator with Jimmy, and they find the bomb hidden in her handbag. Jimmy notices that Chloe is still carrying pictures of the two of them in her purse.

Lois agrees to write the story but Adrian insists on hearing Lex confess before he lets Chloe go. Lois interviews Lex but he denies all knowledge of the cloning program. Adrian forces Lois to pull a gun on Grant, who he reveals is a clone just like him, but Lex wrestles the gun from Lois and shoots Adrian. He drops the detonator and, in the lift, the bomb starts to count down. Convinced they are about to die, Jimmy kisses Chloe. Clark arrives in time and safely gets rid of the bomb.

Lois threatens to expose Lex’s cloning program, but he reveals that he has just bought the Daily Planet. Grant breaks up with Lois as he thinks their relationship is too risky.

Chloe decodes a message for Clark that reveals Brainiac is trying to reboot himself. Clark and Lana share a romantic moment but, as they embrace, Clark’s face flashes to the cracked, broken appearance of Bizarro – the real Clark is trapped inside a crystal in the Fortress.
