Kara flies to Washington, DC in search of a crystal given to her by her father on Kandor. Chloe, Clark and Jimmy realise the crystal is with the government. Clark goes to Lionel who is familiar with the government’s operations and their project Starhawk, which took an interest in Smallville after the second meteor shower.
Agent Walker is analysing Kara’s crystal when Lex arrives and demands information. Walker refuses to tell him anything. Kara uses her super-hearing to find a technician talking about the crystal and seduces him into telling her where it is, but by the time she gets to the lab, the crystal is gone. Clark shows up and tries to calm Kara down, but she pushes him away and runs off.
Kara returns to the Daily Planet where Jimmy finds her going through files on his computer. She finds a link to Lex and goes to investigate further, but Walker shows up and weakens her with kryptonite. Believing Lex stole the crystal, Walker shoots him with a tranquiliser gun and takes off with Kara.
Back at the lab, Walker keeps Kara weak with kryptonite. He scans her brain and picks up memories of Kara in 1986 sneaking through a portal from Kandor to visit her aunt Lara on Earth at the Kents’ barn. Walker’s memory scan is interrupted when Clark shows up to free Kara. When he touches her, he receives the memories from 1986 and realises that Lara’s DNA is in the crystal. He later finds the crystal hidden in a lead box in the barn and gives it to Lana, telling her it contains his mother’s DNA.
