In an episode whose name is far from misleading, Kara starts to unveil her true colours. Clark takes Kara to the Smallville Harvest festival, hardly the pinnacle of haute couture, but his suggestions that she try and keep a low profile fall on deaf ears, despite that superpower thing. Kara decides to enter the Miss Sweet Corn beauty contest but the arrival of three other contestants, Tempest, Tyler and Carly, catch her eye.
Agent Carter of the Department of Domestic Security pays Lex a fact-finding visit, while back at the Daily Planet, a photograph of the now dead Carly – who was literally frozen out of the competition – sees Chloe and Jimmy sent to Smallville.
At the Kent farm, Lana suggests Clark may have been too hard on Kara but back at The Talon, where the contestants are rehearsing, things are heating up, or cooling down to be more precise. Tempest and Tyler decide to use the pageant as a distraction in order to get to the time capsule and try to freeze Jimmy, only for Kara to save him at the last minute.
Lana quizzes Lex as to whether he has prepared everything for her return and Clark and Chloe catch up with Kara at the hospital looking over Jimmy, where she reveals the nature of the girls’ weather-related powers.
Tempest and Tyler try to persuade Kara to help them but she refuses, instead going on to win the beauty pageant. Her refusal backfires and she winds up getting charged and jailed for the crime and a superpowered face-off ensues when Clark and Kara try to stop them and save the day. Picking up a job at The Talon, Kara looks to try and adopt a more normal life, until Lex turns up with an express interest in her that is.
