The last five episodes of this season, we are told will feature a shocking finale – ie a key character will be killed off. Some experts have pointed out that all the major actors on the show have contracts stretching past this year, but producers can still kill them if it deliver the ratings. Wonder Woman Lynda Carter is guest starring as Chloe’s mother Moira. Lex discovers that Moira, who is in a catatonic state in an asylum, had the ability to control meteor freaks. He develops an antidote to her condition and then threatens Moira that he’ll kill Chloe if she does not use her powers to help him. He tells her to revive a meteor freak who escaped the facility – she does, but secretly instructs it to kill Lex. It arrives at the Luther mansion but instead finds and attacks Lana. Clark arrives in time to save her. Chloe realises the freak was under Lex’s control. Clark helps Chloe break into the asylum to rescue Moira. She is not there but Chloe can sense where she is. They are reunited meaning it is the first time Chloe will actually get to know her mother but the effects of the antidote that Lex created wear off after they share only a few moments together. The cliff-hanger is when the show ends with Lana in hospital. The doctor examining her discovers that she is not pregnant, telling her that she was being dosed with hormones that simulated the condition.
