Picking up from the previous episode, Charlie is fighting to save Derek’s life. Sarah is hesitant to tell Charlie why she left eight years ago, but eventually tells him the whole story. Cameron, meanwhile, destroys the endoskeleton of the Terminator from the jail, but notices it is missing its hand.
Derek passes out, and dreams of the future… He and Kyle see Terminators stealing a 747 jet engine and try to stop them, but Derek is captured. He is taken to prison and branded with a barcode tattoo. He watches the Terminators outside dragging the jet engine away. Billy Wisher, one of Derek’s team, is brought into the prison. He tells Derek his real name is Andy Goode – and that he created Skynet. He says he was part of a team of 15 people who built the computer, and he begs forgiveness.
Later, the men wake up to find the machines have gone. They escape their shackles and hurry back to camp, but it has been attacked. They meet another Resistance group and the leader says Kyle and John found another Skynet complex. They both went in to destroy it, but only John came out. Derek goes to see John and is furious when he discovers that reprogrammed Terminators are walking freely around the base. Later, one of the reprogrammed Terminators starts killing people, and Derek is saved by a Cameron model machine. John reveals to Derek that he has built a time machine out of 747 engines. He tells Derek to go to the past and kill Andy. At the chess tournament, Derek fulfils his mission.
