EPISODE 09:
CORPSICLE
US Air Date: 12/12/2007
Writer: Lisa Joy
Director: Brian Dannelly

Emerson has a new case: Victor Narramore, an insurance adjustor for Uber-Life Insurance who was found frozen to death. In life his job was to decide who gets organs from donors. Ned brings the man back to life and he reveals that someone hit him with a bat with the word ‘kindness’ scratched into it.

Emerson goes to see a boy called Abner Newsome, who Narromore had turned down for a donor organ. Abner isn’t upset that Narramore died. As Emerson leaves, he spots a corpse frozen in the snowman on the front yard.

Emerson takes Ned to the morgue where they revive the corpse, which is Uber-Life insurance adjustor Bill Richter. Richter reveals he was killed with a bat and they should talk to Kevin Vanden Eyke, his carpooler who yelled out a warning before he died. They go to Uber-Life and end up talking to Steve Kaiser, who says that Kevin has disappeared and they assume he’s dead as well. The dead insurers all rejected Abner for a heart transplant, and it’s clear that Kaiser is upset at the situation but can’t approve a transplant due to the high chance Abner won’t survive. Ned and Emerson eventually track down the murderer – a woman from the Wish-a-Wish Foundation who acted on Abner’s wish that the insurance men would die. The woman is killed in a bizarre car accident and the boy gets her heart.

Ned goes to the cemetery to find Chuck at her father’s graveside. She asks Ned to bring her father back to life, but Ned refuses. Later, Lily reveals that Olive is actually Chuck’s mother.
