At the beach camp, Faraday and Charlotte have disappeared. When Juliet and Jack go looking for them, Juliet comes face-to-face with Harper, who has a message from Ben: Faraday and Charlotte are heading for the Tempest – if they figure out how to deploy the gas, then everyone on the island will die. Jack comes out of the jungle with his gun aimed at Harper and asks who she is. Harper says she’s an old friend, and maybe Jack and his gun can help Juliet. Harper then disappears.
In flashback, Juliet is the lab, crying over the death of a pregnant woman. Goodwin comes in, looking for gauze for a chemical burn. He comforts Juliet as she bandages his arm, and she learns that Harper, Juliet’s therapist, is Goodwin’s wife. Later, Ben picks up on Goodwin and Juliet’s mutual attraction.
Trekking through the jungle, Charlotte and Faraday run into Kate. She sees that they are carrying gas masks, but before she can ask questions, Charlotte knocks Kate unconscious with the butt of her gun.
Harper finds out that Goodwin and Juliet have been sleeping together, and is worried about Ben’s reaction. He thinks Juliet belongs to him and will do anything to keep it that way. It’s not long before Goodwin shows up dead.
Juliet and Jack finally reach the Tempest, where Faraday and Charlotte are not actually trying to kill everyone; they’re trying to disable the control centre to prevent Ben from using it. Jack and Juliet share a passionate kiss. At the barracks, Locke and Ben make a deal – Ben’s freedom for the name of who owns the freighter: Charles Widmore.
