In a flash-forward, Kate is on trial. She pleads not guilty to crimes we know she has committed; denied bail, she’s taken into custody. Her lawyer insists that the only way to win the trial is to bring ‘him’ in, but Kate refuses – she won’t allow him to use her son.
Kate wants to talk to Miles but Locke refuses. Not to be stopped, Kate intercepts Hurley taking food to Miles and tricks the location out of him. She questions Miles but he’ll answer her questions only if she brings him Ben. Midway through Kate’s trial, Jack is called to the stand. He says that only eight passengers survived flight 815’s crash, and if it wasn’t for Kate he wouldn’t have made it. Appearing to be a hero, Kate gets off with ten years probation.
Kate enlists Sawyer’s help to get Ben to Miles and their plan succeeds. Miles offers Ben a deal: he will tell his boss that Ben is dead in exchange for $3.2 million. After an argument with Sawyer, Kate decides to go back to the beach. Meanwhile, Charlotte calls the freighter and discovers that the chopper never made it back.
Kate leaves the courthouse to find Jack waiting for her. He invites her for coffee; she invites Jack to see the baby. Jack says that he can’t, and Kate says that she understands why not but until he does, there’s no chance of them getting coffee together. Kate returns home and gently wakes the baby up. He calls her ‘mommy’ and gives her hug. Kate replies, “Hi, Aaron.” |
