SEASON 4

EPISODE 1:
THE BEGINNING OF THE END
Air Date: 31/01/2008
Writers: Damon Lindelof & Carlton Cuse
Director: Jack Bender

A wild-eyed Hurley flees Los Angeles police in a high-speed car chase, shouting he’s one of the ‘Oceanic Six’. Back on the island, the action picks up right where it left off with Jack calling the freighter on Naomi’s phone. Kate tells Jack that Locke has disappeared. Ben asks Rousseau to take Alex as far away as possible as they’re all going to die. On the beach, Jin and Sayid finish collecting guns from the dead Others when Desmond returns and warns everyone that Naomi lied. Hurley is crushed by the news of Charlie’s death.

In Hurley’s flashback, he’s questioned by police about his odd behaviour that led to the car chase. The detective also asks about Ana Lucia Cortez, his old partner, but Hurley lies and denies ever meeting her. Under the pressure Hurley starts to hallucinate and freaks out. He winds up in an asylum where he has visions of Charlie telling him they need his help.

Naomi manages to slip away from the group; Rosseau and Jack go after her. She loses her pursuers and goes after Kate, who has the satellite phone. Kate manages to convince Naomi they’re not a threat, and Naomi dies from her knife wound. Meanwhile Hurley gets lost and stumbles upon the cabin. He sees someone inside and, as he runs away, bumps into Locke. Everyone is reunited but they soon split into to groups: those going to meet the freighter, lead by Jack and Kate, and those going to hide at the barracks with Locke. On the beach, a helicopter crash-lands and the pilot asks for Jack by name.
