EPISODE 08:
WINTERLAND
US Air Date: 12/11/2007
Writer: Dana Calvo
Director: Helen Shaver

Dan finds himself at a Seventies swingers party with Livia. Abby, the hosts’ daughter, arrives home and inadvertently walks in on her mother in bed with another man. Disgusted, she flees the home and is not seen again.

In 2007, Dan learns that Abby was last seen hitchhiking in 1973. As he continues his research, an FBI agent arrives to question Dan about the Dylan McCleen hijacking. As Dan and Katie discuss what to do about the money, Dr Langley shows up and warns Dan not to reveal anything to the FBI about his time travelling.

In 1973, Dan prevents Abby from getting in the wrong car, sending her off with some hippies instead. When he returns from the trip, he has an argument with Jack and kicks him out of the house; the next morning the FBI show up to search the house but Katie manages to hide the money. Their search, however, uncovers a photo of Livia from the Forties.

Dan realises his mission with Abby is not concluded when he jumps to the Seventies again in time to see Abby – who has now changed her name to Angela Harvest – steal money from a diner. He tries to convince her to leave the hippies but she refuses, and in 2007 Dan learns the new path she is on leads to a life sentence in prison. He returns to the Seventies and tries to pay off the hippies with the McCleen money, but they are set on robbing a liquor store. He manages to talk Abby out of it, however. Livia, meanwhile, confirms that she is in fact from the Forties.
