When Dan’s son lets slip about the money Dan acquired in episode five, Jack becomes suspicious, collects some of the bills and takes them to the station to investigate. Meanwhile Dan jumps back to the year 1999, where he comes to in the back of a man’s car. Two gang members shoot at the driver, who is a key witness in a case against the gang. Dan prevents the attack from being fatal but loses his ID in the process. His mission is now to protect his past self from the gang members who know where he lives.
In the present, Katie accepts a reporting job, but now she and Dan must work out how to take care of Zack.
Dan and Livia stake out 1999-Dan’s home and follow him to an underground gambling spot. The gang members show up and Dan has to start a fight with his past self in order to get away. Dan recalls that the night of the poker game was when he and Katie fell in love – he is now risking his entire family’s existence by interfering.
Livia jumps from 1999 to 2007, where she attempts to keep Dan’s present life in check. Meanwhile, Jack gives Dan’s money to the FBI and learns the cash is connected to the Dylan McCleen case of 1975. Lyvia takes the money back to 1999 so the Dan of the past can buy back into the poker game and set events back on their original course. But in the present, Jack is forced to admit to the FBI that he got the Dylan McCleen money from his brother.
