EPISODE 05:
THE LEGEND OF DYLAN McCLEEN
US Air Date: 22/10/2007
Writer: Matt McGuinness
Director: Allison Liddi-Brown

While out shopping with his family, Dan spontaneously time travels, leaving his son alone on a busy city street. Coming to in 1974, Dan rescues a mysterious man with a suitcase full of money. The man identifies himself as Dylan McCleen. Dan returns home to a confrontation with his brother and wife about his vanishing act. He manages to convince his brother that nothing untoward is going on, and makes it up to his son by promising to take him to an American football game. Dan follows McCleen as he searches for a Cambodian man pictured in a photograph. Dan finds the man and learns that McCleen had once promised to help the man’s family out of Cambodia, but so far has failed to do so.
Realising it would be too dangerous to take his son to a football game alone, Dan tells little Zack he can’t go. Right in the middle of the conversation, Dan vanishes into thin air – right in front of his son.
Meanwhile, Katie covers for Dan when a detective shows up investigating a liquor-store robbery in which the only clue is a blurry picture of Dan.
Back in the past, Lyvia leads Dan to his father, who provides him with Dylan McCleen’s real name: John Ritchie. Dan is able to reunite Ritchie with the man in the photograph so he can follow through on his promise to bring the man’s family to the US. Ritchie gives Dan a lot of money as thanks and, while it may end up costing him his job, Dan protects McCleen’s real identity and returns home to make good with his family once again.
