EPISODE 22:
WHY WE FIGHT
US Air Date: 09/05/2007
Writers: Carol Barbee & Jonathan E Steinberg
Director: Sanford Bookstaver

Jake returns from a reconnaissance mission and tells Jericho’s people that they are outnumbered by the New Bern forces. Hawkins reveals he can use a satellite to monitor the invaders’ movements and it’s decided to use the tank that belonged to the fake Marines. This successfully repels the first attack on Richmond Farm but Johnston Green is shot and killed. Hawkins realises there is a trace on his satellite link, but before he closes down, he sees hundreds of New Bern troops in transit on foot and by train. Heather Lisinski is found alive and wakes up in a hospital tent at a camp in Nebraska. She urges the base commander to intervene in the war and he agrees, but only after discovering a terrorist is based in the area. Hawkins tells Jake he will use the tank, which is out of weapons, to stop the train and Constantino contacts Jake to apologise for his father’s death. His response is “go to hell” and with smoke from grenades blocking their vision he orders the townspeople to start firing as military helicopters begin to arrive overhead.
