New Bern residents arrive at Jericho’s salt mine demanding supplies but Johnston Green and other residents prevent the deal with Skylar going ahead. Shots are fired to scare them off and Johnston heads to New Bern to try and find Eric and Jake. While he listens to his brother being tortured, Eric discovers he’s sharing a cell with one of the fake Marines from Semper Fidelis. She says his only chance of escape is to tell her if they have an accomplice that is still free. He tells her about Hawkins after striking a deal that after she has led guards to his hideout they will return to release them. When they arrive Hawkins kills both the guards and drives back to New Bern in a truck loaded with shells, which he detonates in the city centre. However, Constantino brings Eric and Jake out of the prison, intending to use them as human shields. His plan backfires, shots are fired and they escape in a truck, which Johnston has arrived in town with. They realise they are now on the brink of war.
