After his demise at the end of season one, Sylar makes an ambiguous return, waking on an island beach next to a woman named Michelle who claims to be Candice in disguise. It isn’t long before Sylar, minus powers now, is back to his old tricks and he cracks said woman over the bonce and then attempts unsuccessfully to steal her powers.

Poor Peter is still saddled with Ricky but he makes good on his promise, helping the Irishman to steal a hefty chunk of cash. The job goes awry when Ricky’s brother Will double-crosses them but he didn’t bank on Peter, who steps in, superpowers and all, to save the day. However, when he gets the box he was promised he refuses to open it, instead settling for a kiss with Caitlin and a celtic knot tattoo instead.

Meanwhile, Alejandro gets himself nicked leaving it up to Maya to break him out, which she does in fantastic style, storming into the police station and killing everyone. Alejandro is shocked, though, that she murdered just to spare him the porridge and so he uses his power to revive everyone, hightailing in it in a car with an American inmate in tow.

Niki and Micah pay a visit to DL’s tombstone before Niki drops Micah off at Nana Dawson’s home and Ando receives a message from Hiro informing him of his whereabouts. Back in 17th Century Japan, Hiro is struggling to convince Kensei that he is indeed a ‘hero’ but Kensei finally believes, albeit only after he slices his arm open and watches it spontaneously regenerate proving superpowers do a ‘hero’ make. Claire confronts West and then discovers he has a superpower of his own, which he uses to fly her to the beach and kiss her (well, you would, wouldn’t you?) and Mohinder uncovers an old painting of Isaac’s which seems to predict Noah’s bloody demise. The episode ends with Noah looking at this painting on his computer screen, contemplating its ominous implications.
