Sylar is in Isaac’s loft, where he paints himself fighting Ted and causing the explosion in NYC. He decides to visit his mother but Hiro and Ando arrive to question Isaac about the comic showing Hiro killing Sylar. Sylar detects the pair but they teleport out of the apartment before he can confront them. They follow Sylar to his mother’s, aiming to attack him. Micah is being held by Candice, who is posing as his mother. DL and Niki argue about how to rescue Micah, and DL leaves to rescue his son unassisted. Niki begs Jessica to help him or he will die. Sylar visits his mother, giving her a snow globe, and she pleads with him to get a better job, saying he could be “so special” and “become president” if he wanted. Sylar decides to reveal he is special and creates a real-life snow globe. His mother becomes frightened as he levitates her collection of globes and one hits her in the face. Meanwhile Peter has been drawing pictures of the explosion, which he shows to Claire. She identifies a man who is unharmed in the picture as Ted. They confront Nathan about Ted, saying that the explosion can be stopped if someone else has the power to explode. Mohinder meets Thompson, who again tries to persuade him to join the agency. Thompson introduces Molly Walker. She is suffering from the same virus that killed Mohinder’s sister and it is impeding her ability to mentally track anyone. Mohinder realises antibodies from his own blood may cure her. When Peter and Claire visit Nathan’s HQ they see him in conversation with Thompson and Nathan’s mother, who tells him the catastrophe will mean the people need leaders and he can take that role. Claire recognises Thompson. Peter tells Claire how to kill him if he begins to explode and gives her a gun as they go to search for Ted. Sylar’s mother attacks him with some scissors. In the struggle he stabs her. Hiro attempts to freeze time and decapitate the distracted Sylar but cannot maintain his concentration and Sylar freezes the sword. Hiro teleports them back to Isaac’s loft but discovers the sword has broken. Bennet, Parkman and Ted arrive in NYC and reach Claire and Peter. Peter’s hands immediately start to glow as he absorbs Ted’s nuclear.
