The final episode before Heroes reached its three-part series finale sees Hiro and Ando journey five years into the future, where they discover what will happen if they do not prevent the explosion. It emerges Nathan is American president, Mohinder is his chief medical adviser and Matt Parkman is head of homeland security. Micah was killed in the blast and Niki has gone back to stripping. She is also seeing Peter, who is badly scarred. Future Hiro is the world’s most wanted terrorist while Ando has been killed. It emerges that while Nathan told the public that Sylar caused the blast, it was actually Peter who detonated the explosion. In a further twist it’s revealed Sylar actually killed Nathan and is using Candice’s ability of impersonation to adopt his form. He’s ordered all heroes be hunted down, but Bennet and Hana Gitelman make a deal with Parkman allowing them to help those with special abilities. Parkman kills Bennet and tracks down and captures Claire, who is working as a brunette waitress. Sylar kills her to absorb her abilities. Parkman traps present-day Hiro, but Peter, present-day Ando and Future Hiro attempt to rescue him. Sylar flies from giving a speech to repel the rescue, giving away his identity to the watching public, and faces Peter. As they duel, Parkman shoots Future Hiro but as he dies he gives Ando a page from Isaac’s comic. Hiro returns to the present with his future self’s sword and discovers the city has not yet been destroyed. He examines the comic, which shows him killing Sylar. He looks up and says, “Now, the hard part”. |
