Flash, Zarkov and Baylin rescue Dr Gordon and escape underground. Meanwhile, Terek has Nascent City surrounded. With Ming’s troops in Frigia, Zurn Queen Azura offers her warriors to Ming if he will make her his queen. Ming readily agrees, and Azura provides a charm to protect him.

Dr Gordon tells Flash that he wired a self-destruct function into the Rift Generator – they will have to get the machine’s core offline first, and to do that, they need the key that Ming wears on his uniform. Flash goes to confront Ming but Aura reaches him first. She tries to convince him to surrender, but Ming refuses and tries to strangle her. Flash arrives just in time, and he and Ming fight. It seems like Ming is about to win, when Aura puts a gun to his head.

Baylin takes out the Patriots guarding the city gates, allowing Terek’s forces into the city, while Zarkov and Dr Gordon sabotage the Rift Generator. Flash and Aura bring Ming to the dungeons, where they find and rescue Vestra. Aura and Flash say their goodbyes and Flash brings the key to the Rift Generator. The core is deactivated, and one final rift is opened. Flash sends his parents through and Zarkov sets the self-destruct, but two Zurn warriors shoot and the Rift Generator is destroyed.

Terek and Aura condemn Ming to death. He is brought to the death chamber, but when the gas clears, Ming has disappeared and only Azura’s charm remains. With the Rift Generator destroyed, the gateway between Earth and Mongo is closed – Flash, Dale and Zarkov have now been permanently trapped on Mongo.
