At Nascent City, Flash discovers the water has been poisoned and the Deviates are being blamed. He goes to warn Terrick while Baylin, Dale and Zarkov try to lure Lenu out of the citadel.

Flash isn’t the only one looking for Terrik – the Turan have been poisoned as well and their leader, Bolgar, wants revenge. Flash says he can find a cure if they spare Terrik’s life, but Bolgar is only willing to give Flash until moonrise to find a cure – and makes him drink poisoned water as an incentive to move quickly. Aura visits the Omadrians, hoping that Vestra’s skills can create an antidote. Flash arrives with the same idea, but Vestra is unable to find a cure.

Baylin, Dale and Zarkov manage to capture Lenu. Baylin gives her a truth serum and learns about the chip and the Imex. Meanhile, Vestra realises that a renegade Omadrian named Esmeline created the poison. Esmeline is willing to make an antidote but only in exchange for fruit from a dangerous vine. The poison starts to take effect and Flash is soon blind; Aura helps him get the fruit and Esmeline makes the potion. Aura works out that Ming paid Esmeline to create the poison.

At the Deviate camp, Vestra reveals to Terrik that she is mother to both him and Aura. Ming made her swear a blood oath never to reveal this to her daughter or else Ming would kill Aura. Flash arrives and quickly distributes the antidote. At Baylin and Dale’s instruction, Lenu reveals to the world that Ming is the one who poisoned the water.
