A rift between Earth and Mongo causes strange creatures to be transported to our world. Zarkov tells Flash and Dale that the time-space continuum between the two planets is being destroyed and if it is not fixed it will destroy both planets. Meanwhile on Mongo, Ming tells Rankol that he needs to have the problem fixed before the tunnels are created or they can’t steal water from Earth.
Zarkov finds the epicentre of the rifts and Joe, Dale and Flash try to find a way to stop them from opening. Joe and Flash are accidentally sucked through a rift to Mongo, where they are captured in a trap. Their captor takes them to the tunnels and orders them to dig. There they meet a Dactyl who protects Flash when their captor tries to kill him.
Back on Earth, Dale and Baylin are tracking a Deviant creature that came through the rift from Mongo. Baylin wants to kill it, but Dale refuses as they discover the creature is pregnant. It goes into labour and Dale helps deliver its baby.
Flash and Joe fight back against their captor and free all the prisoners, but the captor follows them as they escape and falls through a rift to Earth. He ends up in the same place as Dale and takes her hostage, but the Deviant kills him. Zarkov creates a gadget that will close all the rifts, and uses it to send everything that has come through to Earth back to Mongo. Joe and Flash manage to get back to Earth just in time before all the rifts close.
