The Sci Fi Channel’s polarising re-imagining of Flash Gordon continues with Dr Zarkov getting arrested in Nascent City after becoming stranded on Mongo with Dale and Baylin, his curiosity having gotten the better of him when confronted with a holographic projection of Ming. While riding out his time in the slammer he meets an inmate called Krebb who has information about Flash’s missing father, while Ming has the priests inform him of the future, namely that his time on Mongo is swiftly coming to a close. However, Flash and Baylin break Zarkov out of jail, despite the eccentric old doctor getting stunned by a guard and rendered unconscious in the process.

They are almost out of the city when Zarkov begins to wake up and he then tells Flash what Krebb had told him. Suddenly, Flash rushes back to the cells to free him but unsurprisingly his double-barrelled rescue plan, or more notably lack of, comes a cropper and he gets nabbed too. He quickly finds himself sitting in the very same cell as Krebb who proceeds to tell him all about his father. And, more importantly, about his execution.

While being escorted to his very own execution, Flash is knocked unconscious by the priests, who are masquerading as prison guards, who then return him to Earth. Once safely ensconced back home though, Flash mourns his father’s death, as he now believes he has found out the truth. However, the episode concludes with Ming’s evil right-hand man, Rankin, releasing Krebb for successfully deceiving Flash about his father. Thus he reveals himself to be willing to help and conspire in bringing about Ming’s downfall.
