French filmmaker Lucile Hadžihalilović’s first feature since 2004’s Innocence is a poetic journey into a mysterious world of childhood dreams, fantasies and fears.
On a remote island, Nicolas lives with his mother in a village inhabited solely by women and young boys. Nicolas becomes the one to question the mysterious medical treatment all the boys are given.
He senses that his mother and the other women on the island are lying to him, and is determined to find out what they do at night, on the beach…
