Halloween is the perfect time to revisit the series started by Friedkin and William Peter Blatty’s groundbreaking masterpiece, which starred Ellen Burstyn, Max Von Sydow, Jason Miller and Linda Blair, and which has put the fear of God into generations of horror fans. There’s also John Boorman’s mad-as-a-box-of-frogs Exorcist II: The Heretic and Blatty’s actually-really-good The Exorcist III. Completists will be pleased to hear that both Renny Harlin and Paul Schrader’s takes on making a prequel are included, with Harlin’s studio-favoured Exorcist: The Beginning, and Schrader’s much, much better Dominion: Prequel To The Exorcist making an appearance.
