The Hunger Games: Catching Fire starts shooting

The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire begins filming in Atlanta and Hawaii.

The 75th annual Hunger Games have begun! Shooting on Catching Fire, the follow-up to the hugely successful Hunger Games, is underway in Atlanta, Georgia, and on location in the beaches and jungles of Hawaii. The exotic scenery will lend itself well to the Games’ setting described in Suzanne Collins’ sequel.

I Am Legend director Francis Lawrence is at the helm and Lionsgate’s President of Production Eric Feig has said Lawrence has already “exhibited immense creative vision and resourcefulness in casting the film and planning its look and feel.”

The sequel focusses on the rebellion that was sparked in The Hunger Games, as Peeta and Katniss embark on a Victor’s Tour of the Districts. It’s also the Quarter Quell (75th annual Games), and the Gamemakers have something special planned to celebrate the anniversary.

Lionsgate will release The Hunger Games: Catching Fire on 22 November 2013.
