2. Lionel Luthor (John Glover)
Lionel Luthor was an instrumental part of early Smallville’s success, an overbearing, greedy father figure who sowed the seeds for his own son’s fractured intent later on. Though transforming into a seemingly better man later on, in Smallville’s opening years he provided a nice contrast to the freaks-of-the-week that ate up a lot of the airtime from episode to episode.
