ph4tp98dsvwr762Terminator Salvation scored a reported $3 million dollars at the box office following screenings in US cinemas at midnight. Although Salvation opened on an undisclosed amount of screens, the film is set to fare better as it opens on 3,580 locations domestically, with a further 50 venues added just today.

Comparatively this is a modest sum. Both Wolverine and Watchmen managed to accrue $5 million and $4.6 million respectively when they both opened on midnight screenings, while Star Trek racked up approximately $4 million dollars on its first night. This early figure may put many predictions in the shade, with analysts over at Cinematical proposing the film will take $78 million of its opening weekned.

Terminator Salvation opens in the UK on 03 June 2009 and stars Christian Bale, Sam Worthington and Anton Yelchin.
